Using Indexes to Locate Articles

Since articles are not included in the library catalog, periodical indexes are essential to locating articles on specific subjects. Ramsey Library provides access to indexes focusing on different subject areas. For a complete list of index databases, see Research Databases By Title  or  By Subject.

Online index databases with articles related to Atmospheric Sciences:

  • Biological Abstracts (via Web of Knowledge) indexes about 6,000 journals in the life sciences, including agriculture, biology, and ecology. Coverage is 1969 to the present.

  • InfoTrac Academic OneFile is a general periodical index that indexes and provides full text for select atmospheric science journals, as well as other general periodicals of interest to students and scholars in the field. Coverage in this database is 1980 to the present.

  • ScienceDirect provides access to over 800 full-text journals in 16 fields of the sciences and social sciences.

  • Scitation SPIN (Searchable Physics Information Notices) (1975+ for some titles). Abstracts from core physics and astronomy journals from the American Institute of Physics.

  • Science Citation Index Expanded (via Web of Knowledge) covers 1980-present.
