Ramsey Library Policies

Ramsey Library Services to
Users with Disabilities

Ramsey Library is committed to providing physical access to materials and resources for all library users.  UNC Asheville students, faculty, staff, and other users who require assistance in pulling materials from less accessible areas, or in using self-service equipment and services (photocopiers, media equipment, and computers, including those with assistive software) may request assistance from personnel at the Circulation, Research & Technology, Interlibrary Loan, and Media Center Desks.

Services Available:

• Pulling materials: Library staff will pull books and other items available on site from the shelves (Circulation and/or Research).
   
• Photocopying materials: Library staff will provide assistance with photocopying materials on site if a user is physically unable to operate self-service photocopy equipment. Users will be charged for any photocopies provided at the current self-service rate. Copyright law compliance requirements and certain restrictions apply (Circulation, Research and/or Interlibrary Loan).
   
• Assistance in using electronic resources: Users will be provided assistance in using self-service electronic resources and databases (Research).
   
• Aid in obtaining ABC Express, Interlibrary Loan, and Reserve Materials: UNCA users will be provided assistance with requesting and obtaining materials through ABC Express, Interlibrary Loan, and Reserve services (Circulation, Research and/or Interlibrary Loan).
   
• Assistance in using media equipment: Users will be provided assistance with self-service media equipment on site (Media Center Desk).
   
• Aid in using assistive technologies: Please see below.

Assistive Technologies:

Ramsey Library provides a TTY line for the convenience of our deaf and hard of hearing users. Both the Library and the University Writing Center (located in RL 136) provide access to Kurzweil software for visually impaired users, and can provide assistance with utilizing Kurzweil equipment on site (Research, and/or University Writing Center).
