North Carolina State
Government Publications

Ramsey Library was designated a selective paper depository for North Carolina State government publications in July 1989. Western Carolina University is also a selective paper depository, and Appalachian State University is a complete microfiche depository.

North Carolina publications are classified according to a system that is similar to the one used for U.S. publications. North Carolina State documents received after mid-1992 are listed in the library catalog. Some documents received before 1992 may be listed only in the North Carolina Documents shelf-list catalog located in the government documents collection. The Checklist of Official North Carolina State Publications, call number F20 207:C51, is useful for locating North Carolina documents not found in the online catalog.

The best index to North Carolina publications is our library catalog. If you have questions or difficulty finding State information, please ask a reference librarian or a member of the Documents Staff.

Internet Resources

An increasing amount of North Carolina government information is now available on the World Wide Web. Please see our Electronic Resources Government Information page to locate our State government Web sites.

A special electronic resource that we can access on the Web and in the library is the Log Into North Carolina (LINC) system. LINC is an online database containing over 900 variables covering a wide range of demographic and economic topics. Time-series and cross-sectional data is available for downloading and analysis. Check the State Data Center Web site for many useful reports. Students, faculty, or staff who need custom reports may contact Bryan Sinclair at 232-5094, or send email to sinclair@bulldog.unca.edu.
