Faculty Carrel Policy
Policy
Ramsey Library is pleased to
make a limited number of enclosed carrels wired for Internet access available
for faculty use. Permanent members
of the faculty actively engaged in research, writing, or curricular development
projects requiring ready access to library resources are eligible to apply for a
study carrel. Large, open carrels
with lockable cabinets are also available for faculty use.
Carrels are assigned for a semester or less. Occupants may apply for renewal, but without priority over new applicants.
Carrels are NOT available for use as offices.
It may be necessary to assign more than one person per
carrel. The library will consult
applicants before making a shared assignment.
Applications
Carrel applications are
available on the Library’s web site and must include a brief description of
the faculty member’s project.
Guidelines
for Use
Egregious or repeated violation of these guidelines will
result in forfeiture of the carrel.
Current periodicals taken to a carrel must be returned to the current periodicals area by the occupant.
Library materials left in locked carrels must be checked out to the carrel occupant.
Occupants retain their keys for the semester.
Duplicates are not available at the Circulation Desk.
While Ramsey Library will take all reasonable measures to protect the security of carrel contents, liability for personal items left in carrels rests with the owners.
Carrels are available for use during regular library hours,
only.
Use of tobacco (e.g., smoking, chewing) is prohibited.
